Hedge cutting

No some get done every 2 years. Important bits every year and the bits that do not cause any issues regarding boundries, access or getting in the way of kit we leave to do what it likes. No saw blades for us.

Personally i would do half 1 year half the next but we farm over 6000ha and dont even come close to doing a quarter of that so plenty of berries for the birds. It is more for acess. Roadsides etc

I try not do mine until after xmas so the birds can have the berries etc,most of my customers are horsey folks and want theirs doing asa, some have big hedges and I cut one pass each year on those so there is always some two year old growth for fruiting,I do the same on my bigger ones but cut the rest every year as late as possible

I wasn’t disbelieving you but it’s some operation. Care to share any basic details? Rotation, part of the country etc

I know [emoji6] just got it in there before comments from no it all's appeared. I work for sandfields farms part of g's fresh. Mainly based around the midlands but have a farm in kent and a mushroom farm down south. Also stretch as far as west africa (senigal)

Surely a lot of that is annual lets so you wouldn’t need to worry about hedges anyway ?

Senegal ? Can`t be many hedges out there?? What do they grow?

You either like the job or absolutely hate it

I don't mind doing the field hedge but hate doing the main road. We have a B road going along our farm. Takes a morning to cut it. people ignore the signs and drive like nutters. Had a 3 near misses this year.
