trouble with half the hedgers these days is the way they are made is crap, the arm is mounted way to far back meaning you are looking at the front of the cutter rather than looking at what you have done, the designers need a kick up the arse, years ago they were much better in this respect

More to do with tractor cabs have moved forwards over the years.

Have you got a sun roof. 1 place I cut I have to spent the whole day kneeling on the seat looking out sun roof as the head is up so high it's out of sight above the roof.
Might be an idea to at least see what angle your at?

As a retired farmer I admire the hedge cutter operator that can cut the hedge sides and bottom to the same height/width it was 3 yrs ago or what ever the interval is these days!!!!
You soon see where the previous cut was done to after you have opened the hedge up to take it back to where it should be , but I don't agree with letting the hedges go wild , they should be done every year its just grief on the machine grief on the operator and there's plenty of cover for birds to nest in in a regularly cut hedge.
