Hedger accident........

Terrible for all concerned but that's harsh for the contractor as how is he supposed to know what's hidden in a hedge.

It reads like he was done for not maintaining the hedge cutter and not having the correct guards as per manufacturers guidelines or design, that is what the HSE will have gone after him on, not the fact that there was wire in the fence.

But the chap who got hit shouldn't have been anywhere near the working machine. Way back when i was a wee kid we were never allowed anywhere near machines mowing or cutting anything ( we rode on mudguards and in cabs for everything thing else, just not mowing etc on fear of something going astray)

It makes me cringe at events such as grassland as folks walk very close behind mowers that start up, it's then that i scarper.... it just takes one loose bolt or a hitting a stone and someone will be killed at one of these events......
