Hedger pressure relief valve

Got a bomford B467 thats had the pressure relief valve played with and now keeps stalling the head under any kind of load.
Whats the best way to set it? Got a test kit but no ports on the block or motor to screw into, so until i get my hands on the big adaptors i'd need to put it inline can i just screw it right in and just risk stalling the tractor if i get too heavy with it or would the pressure be too much for something else in the system?

Unless your tractor is only 40 pto hp or whatever the trimmer is advertised as, then no , use gauges.

Surely the easiest thing to do is screw it in gradually bit by bit until the head will take a decent load?

I think you want to see 2500-3000 psi max pressure with the head really dragged down under hard load. That’s on the modern gear pump system. I just tee’d into the feed line..
