Just thought I'd share this. Went down the field to some calving heifers 17 days ago, one was down with feet and nose out, put ropes on feet and pulled calf, no jack, calf was tight but just put a bit of stick through ropes and pulled and he came. Heifer wouldn't get up so left her and went back 2 hours later, she was up then but appeared to have dislocated her shoulder, but showed no sign of any pain, was grazing as though nothing was a miss. Walked her into a field near the building's so I could keep an eye on her, but absolutely no sign of any pain, after 6 days got the vet to have a look, he confirmed it was dislocated so I asked for a certificate, he refused as he said the injury was older than 24hrs. Not happy as not only lost a lovely heifer but also wasting a perfectly good carcase, really p1ssed off, so left her down the field. She was about 250 yds from yard so kept an eye but never went to her, could see calf bombing round so left well alone. Decided yesterday morning to have her shot, went to fetch her and she's perfect just favours that foot a tiny bit, can't believe it.
