Exactly how is this measured?
I’ve read it’s measured from the base plate, not the Finished floor; is that right? It is measured to the top of the steel upright, or the top of the eave purling
I’d say that’s right as they don’t know the depth you’re going to make the floorI’ve read it’s measured from the base plate, not the Finished floor; is that right?
Interesting, thanks.FFL to top of eaves beam
I would say it's the height in which something can drive in without hitting the top!
FFL is normally shown on the drawings, they need to know this when doing the plans surely?
Take 9” off then or 225mmThat would be the obvious one but from what I’ve read it is actually floor level to the top of the eaves which is about as useful as a chocolate tea pot.
Sounds sensible.each building firm is different I always specify it as FFL to underside of eaves beam as this is what you will be using, I always specify what depth foundations will be at ie 1ft below FFL.
Tractors must have about reached their limits in size: certainly if you need to drive them on the road.i think we need to look to the future god only knows what size machinery we will have in thirty years time i know of a farm that had a purpose built tractor shed built with a work shop at the end it looked a real posh job but these days you can't get a modern tractor in it,just think howe tractors have changed and farming if you are going to build don't scimp it will only cost about £140 a bay to go up three or four feet and dont forget the portal frame will be lower than the eves
