If you have a Range store near byhave a look if they have some of these in stock http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MENS-HEAT-INSULATERS-THERMAL-SOCKS-2-3-TOG-RATING-SIZE-6-11-THICK-WARM-WORK/222255961783?_trksid=p2141725.c100338.m3726&_trkparms=aid=222007&algo=SIC.MBE&ao=1&asc=20150313114020&meid=a6b91f15247741c0bf3b8ce09e8fef4c&pid=100338&rk=5&rkt=27&mehot=pp&sd=371813232947

I have had several pairs from Range and they are quite good and not tight - sorry for long link it was the only one of similar style I could find.

Or, if it is long socks you want have a look at some sea boot socks, they do not tend to be tight either.
Thanks for you're helpful reply
