I need some help deciding what my next tractor will be, I’m pushed for time so need this sorted this week.
yesterday I drove above 2 hours to look at a claas arion 640, 57 plate, 5500 hrs, quicke loader, fairly tidy but needs a couple of little jobs doing. I’ve never even sat in a claas before so didn’t really know what expect. Its fairly straightforward to drive so I took it for a drive up the road to see how it went, all seems fine and the suspension is way way better than anything I’ve been in.
All sounds ok up to now and although technically bigger than what I need none of us ever moan about having too power.
My only reservation is when search the net, and this site there’s so many horror stories of these claas it’s putting me off, I only run one tractor so breakdowns can quickly get inconvenient.
My other problem is I fell in love with a tractor while wondering around the dealers yard, they have in a 53 plate, 9k hour fendt 412. I have a thing for 4cl handy tractors and this is exactly that. The sensible side of me says the claas is better for job, and the fendt doesn’t ride anywhere near as well, is quieter tho and I’d have more confidence in the fendt reliability. No loader tho which although not essential is always handy.
The main work is road work pulling max 10 ton, powering the jetter & gravel trailer with the occasional ploughing etc.
Will someone please either put my mind at rest with the claas or tell me to buy the fendt cause I really can’t make my mind up, or find me something else for under £30k.
