Help needed one of daughters orphan lambs is well of colour ears down and seems to gone of food and has a lot of saliva i have checked as far as i can see that its not got anything stuck in its mouth / throat any ideas people .
how old and what condition was it before the drench. Did it need worming?
Sounds not good. I have saved all my pet lambs this year by ad-lib feeding always keep them seperate until 4m old. I didnt Hptavac them as we dont tend to do this here. However if this lamb has weakness or picked up illness younger this is the issue. Could be the usual pneumonia type illness?
any chance the drench guns hurt the back of the throat...if they chew on the drench gun it can get vicsious sharp edges and then you need to buy a new one.
Could quite likely be Pasteurellosis, weather has changed ....colder nights , and days from what it was, the stress of that can bring it on this time of year or in the last few weeks.
Has it been vaccinated? Aamoi...
The Health and Safety Executive for Northern Ireland (HSENI) alongside the Farm Safety Partnership (FSP), has named new farm safety champions and commended the outstanding work on farm safety that has been carried out in the farming community in the last 20 years.
