Good evening,

recently got gps fitted to our drilling tractor using a claas s10 screen and signal. its on a sacor satellite so not rtk, but better accuracy then engnos. I'm after some help with the offset its a 5m drill we drill without tramline but the drill is 10cm wider on the LHS had a little go in autumn but has left gaps, i also use my markers occasionally to make sure I'm lined up but they also were all over the place. new drill & gps for first time user ;S

any help would be great.

Depends if it’s trailed or mounted. If mounted/trailed on the link arms I would investigate why the drill is wider one side and rectify if possible. If it’s 10cm wider one side (from the middle) and can’t be made right you could just push it over 5cm the other way on your stabilisers. If it’s trailed on the drawbar and it pulls one way (all of the time, consistently) then you could install an off-set. Not sure about claas but it will be in the implement set-up bit somewhere.

Thanks for the reply, its a trailed drill and yes its wider 1 side from the centre I've had a look this evening on the set up and you can set off measurements I'm just trying to work out if i need to tell its 10cm is on the LHS which it is or if i need to tell it to make it 10cm on the RHS or make it 5cm so technically it wouldn't leave any gaps or overlap. i think I'm over thinking it but its all new to me.

If the working width of the drill is exactly 5m you have 260cm to the left and 240 to the right of centre; so you can think of it as an offset mower for example as an extreme case. But instead of sticking right out it’s only sticking out 10cm so I would put the offset 10cm to the left. With a trailed drill the length setting(s) of the seeding elements/land wheels behind the drawbar is fairly crucial; especially doing bends and even more so if you put an offset in.
