ok well dremel to the rescue

however the platform kit isn't going on easy. I sanded the splines, greased, banged with hammer still not sliding on. wtf this is annoying. I got it on maybe 1/5th but I aborted because it will be impossible to remove again. there has to be an easier way...

Have to admire your perseverance! Until you mentioned "removing again" I was just going to suggest sticking the new splined piece in the oven for a while at say 100 deg C for a while and quickly pop it on the shaft thumping as necessary. That usually works when you're fitting a new bearing.

Good luck

well who knows what the future holds. maybe the motor breaks down or I sell tractor and will need to part out the GPS. I could cut the column with a Sawzall then spline will pop off there will be a few mm gap between the plastic shroud and motor.

I have to say this is a pita. I have taken wheels off vw's before and as soon as you get the main bolt off gravity does the rest its that easy.

My word! You weren’t joking when you said you had given it a hard time! I’ve never seen one that bad! I doubt the telescope part will ever work again! Is your platform kit actually the correct one?

ya the telescoping still works, i can still loosen and tighten that top part, its only mangled but works. i didnt even know it could telescope until i took it apart haha. hey people said smash it with a hammer so i did...

78102-27 rev B for deutz apparently, i will do more sanding and measuring and maybe counting splines tomorrow

ok finally

someone said it was tapered they were right. 21.2mm at the top and 21.9mm on the bottom (the flush bit under the spline). with that being said I sanded out 0.7mm from the platform kit now it went on ez pz.
