Didnt really know where to put this question ! I have a motocycle that has been stored in one of my sheds for 3 years, it is not taxed or mot but will pass no problems and my question is the chap it belongs was my brother in law but after a very bitter and still ongoing divorce is not ! He has a small shipping container full of stuff as well at the farm which is going to get skipped if he dosent come for it so but what i want to know is if there is any way of getting the motobike transferred into my ownership without his permission as it has been instorage here for so long with no intention or intrest in moving it ? No doubt it will be a legal minefield but i thought the good people of tff would have a idea ! Thanks in advance !

Motorbikes seldom pass mot's after being stored for long without a few niggly faults that need rectifying. Never anything big, just easy fix niggles. Unless it was stored for a reason?
If he's getting divorced he probably owns no more than half of it anyway? Could your sister? Help with the paperwork?
You could put it through it's mot, insure it, and take it for a test run to decide if its worth the paperwork hassle. The bikes probably on a sorn so there 'll be paperwork to do to own it. Or you could wait a few more years till he's moved house, forgot the bike, the sorn paperwork hasn't been updated with his address and the apply for a v5.
