Toshiba Satellite L50 B. Screen was going off if the lid was pulled over beyond vertical. Push it back a little and it came on again. Last week it went black and hasn't came on since! Have since changed the cable between the motherboard and screen and today, fitted a new screen but it still doesn't work and I can't find the screen in Device Manager. The LT is still working fine when connected to an external monitor as I'm using it now.......
Anybody any ideas on how to sort it.....apart from a big hammer!!
Oh and for those in the know, the screen power inverter comes with the new screen attached so that should hopefully be ok.

Have plugged the cable out and in a number of times.Might try the new cable for continuity later but it's a rather delicate job for big fingers and a standard multi meter.
The screen is the same as the old one and the graphics driver is in DM ok.

Hmm, ok then, just another thought, does the screen have a separate power connector, or does it all go through one cable?
This trick may be worth a try - Take out the battery and put it back in. Then press shift, F8, and the power button at the same time

Ta Storeman. One new multistrand cable from the motherboard to the screen inverter which is attached to the screen. Faffed about with that cable today and ended up damaging the connector on one end of it...........! Might not have had it fully plugged in to start with but will have another new one on Tuesday. Had another look on device manager for the screen and it had appeared there today but had code 45 and said it was switched off.Couldn't figure any way to switch it on but can do no more till i get the new cable. If it doesn't work this time,I have a notion that it is a Win 10 issue.
Have also been through a lot of answers from Google such as removing the battery and holding down the power button and pressing all the function keys etc.....

Right, new cable fitted and still no screen. Did find it in hidden devices and uninstalled the drivers hoping a restart would reinstall them and bring back the screen, but no!
All sound has now disappeared too,so I expect there is a fault with the motherboard. Think it's time for another laptop.

When I said the screen is back,I meant in the DM btw. Nearly scared to uninstall anything else in case I lose the external monitor as well! Not that I ever use it,but the webcam is gone too.
Code 45 for screen,audio and webcam. Wondering what's next?:scratchhead:

How does hundreds of errors and events sound?

Ooooh, sounds like a fun evening.
Firstly don't panic. (Well, not just yet anyway:cautious:(y))
There will always be events there, it's the type of event that is important.(y)

Any Warnings are not usually too bad, tend to mean no loss of data or functionality. May point to a future problem if appropriate action isn't taken.

Errors, however, are usually significant problems and require immediate attention.

Putting the event ID into Google should shed some light on what is going wrong.

Haven't tried the restore bit yet but will likely try soon. However,my next thought, after a bit of reading etc on Google,is ......would a faulty RAM stick give rise to the screen issue or would other things go down as well? Things do hang from time to time and occasionally scrolling stops working for a time.

There is the possibility that it could be a failing RAM stick. It could also be a failing hard drive.
Any problems with the hard drive should show up in the Event Log.
