Yes this is the link, the website doesn't give much info i'm afraid.

They come over in a van on the night boat, spray the house with the silica slurry, stay at a travelodge, fog the house the next day and get the boat back.

Hoping to have them over to do ours the last week of Feb, but at the moment it's a bit up in the air with all the covid and brexit nonsense.
What sort of price are these chaps charging for the slurry application?
Cheers

Ok thanks ,
Have you ever tried mixing your own ?
I've brought hemexan before and when I spoke to the supplier he told me the quality to mix with water if I wanted to apply myself . Haven't had a go yet though

I did use to do the worst areas with a knapsack sprayer a few years ago when we only had one shed, had to mix it very watery and it still used to knacker the trigger of the gun.

These guys have petrol powered pumps and the right kit, they also add some kind of adhesive to the mix to help it stick to the surfaces and not flake off, but they are secretive as to what it is! Nothing to stop you having a go though.

Only done it last time. Don’t intend on using water again unless we have a massive health challenge. A lot cheaper a lot easier.
We were planning to try it on half the sheds and wash the others but it was so much easier we just did it on all the sheds.
i know of someone who has never used water and his sheds are 10+ years.
Compressed air?

Do you really think in another 5 or so years you will have replace it all. Mine went in in 2009 and undoubtadly repairs are increasing, , but hopefully like triggers broom there are a few years left in it.

this will make for some very heavy reinvestment costs for free range units going forward

We have used hemexan every turnaround for the last 10 years or so never had any major problems with red mite since. We used an old milk tank to mix it then just a submersible pump to spray it on. If we get mite later in the flok I put a bag of it in the litter and the birds dust bath in it then carry it into the nests.

Dry clean- don’t put water in the sheds rots kit too quick
Couldn't agree more , I've never washed my multie tier system, 12 years now, some years it is smoked out ,some years it's not, Great believer in mitex dust ,put down 12 of , 25kgs bags at the one time, twice a flock , The system will only rot if the floor is mucky, and that can be down to ventilation,,

Off the top of my head our tank was 1000 litres
And we put 8 25kg bags into that I'm not sure if thats what they recommend or not but it seems to work fine for us at that.

How are you applying the Mitex? Is that rate per 16000 bird shed?

That's right 16.000, ,one bag per section, there's 12 sections, put 3 piles that one bag per section, birds will dust bathe in it, only down side is that you couldn't see 3 foot in front of you for at least a week , never had red mite yet and its been 12 years, so it must be working

Thanks for that. What age are the birds when you put the first lot down? I was thinking of blowing the mitex around the system pre housing using a duster and then again mid flock.

Once the birds have settled in and a nice bit of dusty bedding has built up, probably 20 weeks old or so,,, doesn't work that well on wet mucky floors ,but will help dry them out, Try to put your mitex down on dry places, ,you will need a good face mask for at least a week, it will be like walking in a dence fog ,,

Any one out there feeding there birds in a multie tier system, twice a day , I'm feeding 3 times per day, just wondering could you get away with 2 times per day, I always like to be there for the feeding times ,so twice a day would be handy, I would still feed the same amount only over 2 feeds ,, any body doing this?
