Heptavac p question

Will they're be any immunity passed onto lambs if ewes which were not on heptavac system received one single dose 5 weeks pre lambing and then got their booster after lambing to put them into the system.

I ask this as I am wondering is it ok to ring the lambs tails out of these ewes and then give them their booster at 6 weeks old

I wouldn't like to rely on any passive immunity from one jab, but the ewes would be 'on the system' for next year at least, after their second dose. I'd be aiming to cover the lambs, at least against clostridials, as soon as possible.
Anything more than that would be a bonus IMO.

I agree, no meaningful protection passed on, can use in lambs from 3 weeks of age. Get started ASAP

This is what I thought but my problem is I want to ring the lambs tails and vet told me you can't heptavac until their 2 weeks old and I couldn't ring until 2 weeks after this so tailing month old lambs didn't really appeal to me.

This all occurred as I bought 40 in lamb ewes which I was told were on hep system and all I'd have to do was give them their booster which I did. But later found out that they weren't.
lack of knowledge on sellers point of view rather than him being a trickster as he was selling a brother who had passed away sheep which he thought were on system but weren't.

I'd just ring the lambs and chance it.....

(you can only rubber ring in the first week of life)
