I have not been able to purchase any supplies of Heptavac P and I was wondering if anyone knew how close to lambing you could use it, not wanting to upset the ewes a few days before they lamb but does anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks aangus im thinking that way Ive noticed previous years that the ewes aren't happy for 24 hours post treatment, we could do more harm than good perhaps.

It says 4 to 6 weeks prior to lambing, to get the maximum immune response, but I have always wondered when, as I keep the rams in for 6 weeks, and have always given the booster about 5 or 6 weeks before lambing, but then that could be 3 months before the tail enders lamb.

When I went to buy my Heptovac, Gethin said that there is a shortage of supply at the moment.

I always do ours 3 weeks before lambing, and they seem fine.

Stupid head on!

I’ve stupidly forgotten to give my ewes their Covexin 8 jab (symptom of running two jobs and having too much on!) and my lambing start date is about March 15th. Is it a case of go through and inject my ewes anyway to provide their booster and then do born lambs at a later date?

4 weeks before lambing and I cannot get any Heptervac. Tried vets and 3 local agricultural merchants with no joy. Looks like I am going to have to take my chance.
Any ideas as to why there is none around?

Far as I’m aware there’s plenty about just no small bottles? Got 3 big bottles in my fridge last week not a problem

I was told it was a problem with getting a batch of large bottles signed off. My usual supplier only had small bottles. Got the last 2 X 250ml from another stockist. They reckoned they were getting 10 big bottles in at the end of last week. My regular man was going to call when he got a delivery but nothing so far.

I noticed loads in Wynnstay in Carmarthen today in the fridge as I was at the tills

Bizarre. Can only get 500ml bottles up here. Merchant not expecting any small bottles any time soon . Apparently a problem gettig the stuff back into the country from Europe after packing. Mental when it is made here in the UK

Couldn’t believe myself. Rep says it’s been done like that for years. Was never an issue before brexit, but now the paper work is huge
