Unless in the middle of a heatwave, and a light crop, l don't think there is any other solution, you simply lose to much leaf, we have a ryegrass, r clover ley, 3rd cut, nitrates to high to cut, as per norm, (not our fault !), grass has well headed, heavy crop, to dry it for hay, would take to many teddings, = lost leaf. Quality grass, has gone over, just a 2nd quality crop now.trouble is making hay with RC in , getting the stem dried out fit to bale means a lot of the leaf gets lost,its worse than WC in that respect .
Would it be better to wrap the lot for feed value ?
