Herd management apps and software. Worth the effort?

I have been approached to do a free trial with Farm data (a subsidiary of Landmark systems). The set up will take a bit of time and obviously there is the cost at the other end of the trial. I have been thinking about trying herd watch too. Is this sort of stuff going to be worth the effort for a smallish herd?
I have been getting on pretty well as it is with some excel spread sheets I created which can be accessed remotely now.

Not sure what those apps entail but for grass growth/field data/flock data/sale/purchase/med records then Agriwebb does it all. @CampbellMauchan is the man to talk to about it but a lot of us on here use it! @Muddyroads joined off the back of my recommendation as have many others.
