Herdperson/ Herdmanager

  • A fantastic opportunity has arisen to carry out the day-day duties on a progressive 500 cow split Spring/Autumn block calving herd of mainly Friesian x Jersey cows near Launceston Cornwall. We require a very enthusiastic and versatile herdsperson / herdmanager to carry out day-day tasks such as milking, grazing allocation and footrimming etc.

  • The herd is milked through a 24:48 parlour with batch feeders; grazed for as long as the weather dictates and are housed in cubicles during the winter where they are fed grass silage. Regular grass measuring takes place on a weekly basis to give a grass wedge.

    The successful candidate will be a very enthusiastic person who has very high standards in whatever they do. They must also have previous experience on a similar farm and be able to think for themselves.
