An opportunity has arisen for a herdsperson to work within our team to assist with all aspects of the farming operations. Key areas of the role include TMR feeding, overseeing grazing, general herd health, fertility and milking.

The farm:

  • The farm is in an excellent location 8 miles south of Chester on the edge of a village

  • The dairy currently milks 400 commercial holsteins calving all year round except for a 4 week break over Christmas
  • The cows are fed an intensive TMR during the winter with an emphasis placed on grazed grass from spring to late autumn

  • The herd is milked through a modern double up parlour fitted with auto id, lift to start, ACRs and ADF. Housing consists of a mixture of deep sand cubicles and sand on mattresses.
Ideal candidate:

  • The farm seeks to employ an enthusiastic and driven individual that wishes to be trained and develop their skills in farm management.

  • Training would take place internally and an allowance would be made for external courses as appropriate.
  • To work a 5 day week plus alternative weekends (with a day off in the week following the weekend worked)

  • REMUNERATION: Subject to negotiation.
