Here is a thought for management ...

@Chris F in particular as it's was your post ............. but will tag in @Clive

I see you are running your divisive "Most popular TFF member of the month" again but, to date, with little or no response.
It IS divisive because it's based on reactions to posts with a threshold of 10 posts within that month. Well, it would be easy to bust the algorithm simply by posting say 5 pics of shiny new machines arriving on farm, cute animals/children or bits of work and 5 pics of well upholstered young ladies (who will suffer backache in time) then call it stumps for the month.
What it doesn't do, is reward posters who put up threads, engage in such threads and generally bring debate, laughter, tears, anger and traffic to the site.

Would it not be FAR better to reward posters with mugs (& points) on reaching certain milestones? Such as a mug at 1000 posts, another at 10,000 and a golden one at 50,000?

And in case anyone is wondering .......... bitter? Moi?

Point noted - its under 10 posts that don't count though. As the highest was actually 28, but based on just one post. I'd agree though it doesn't reward the big posters.

I basically have a little stock of mugs we found, so was planning on giving them all out eventually. Hitting bigger milestones is a good idea.

I nearly actually just sent you a mug as I knew this thread was coming!

Pfft. I did say 10 post threshold....

Just think it would be better to reward your loyal posters who keep TFF wot it is

Anyway, off to infest Off Topic later ..

define “loyal” though

Easy ... go to the members section and see who takes part in the forum... although I appreciate that you will have mods and admin staff etc who try and keep the rest of us under control.
Ultimately though the forum only works through interaction from threads and posts and I just think that you should consider minor rewards in the form of a mug at notable points such as detailed above

I don’t like quantity as a metric much though, we have no shortage of quantity

quality is something i would rather incentivise and reward though

we have looked at “best answer ” type algorithms but its not simple

That’s fine - guilty as charged for posting quantity - but I find it interesting that some of the biggest “reactions” come from posting pics
Just think, in my opinion, that your team needs a rethink

Not a rethink , just stop it. It seems like the giving gold stars by primary school teachers., which doesn't actually help learning where its actually needed so to speak.

Better for staff resources to be put to better use, like into answering 'support requests' usefully.

I've slept on your comment in bold @Clive ........... and I think you need to bear in mind that you are dealing with a wide range of posters on the forum.

If I take my own example, I will freely admit 90% of my posts are very light hearted and I rarely engage with more agricultural matters. TBH, I use TFF as a bit of fun for "Bantz" as the young say as I spend most of the working day stumbling about a largeish dairy unit getting in the way and need a break from those stresses.
If you want a more serious & focussed forum, that's fine but personally I think the blend is just right and I hope that you'd agree? Hence I personally think, if there is to be a "reward" system, it should be focused on those who frequent the platform (the members section is quite a salutary experience when you see how many sign ups there are that have NEVER posted)

Just my 2p worth
