Hernia on show heifer

My show heifer has a hernia lump on her navel and wondered what peoples opinions were on if it spoils her for the show ring? Or if anyone knows any ways to remove the lump? Our vet says she will always have it.

I had a steer calf with a hernia, he was operated on and seemed to do fine then a swelling returned and a drain was put in but it continued to be a problem. Had to keep him inside after the first operation and he was finished early at 13 months in case the problems escalated.

If I had a calf like that with a hernia again I would have it euthanased immediately as the prognosis is not good.

Even if it's not a hernia but instead a residual swelling from a past infection it will still render her unsuitable for breeding.
