Question 9, I suspect most will have no experience of accidents with pto shafts so as such could only offer an opinion/guess

It's getting the joints greased that is the problem with shaft covers. The shaft itself won't do anyone any harm if they stay away from it surely

Why do they usually put the grease nipples on the inside of the cross? I’ve got a couple with them on the outside and they’re far easier to grease as are the ones with the nipples in the end caps although I do wonder if that gives uneven grease distribution

I don't understand them. I have a machine with a shaft that doesn't slide enough to get it off to grease it, every year I say I must take off that gearbox and grease that shaft, and never do it lol

Q11 biggest cause of damage is from link arms being the wrong height

The chains normally end up broke here. Afaik in usa the guard doesnt need a chain, it can spin aslong as when touched it stops freely

We have a 1948 Welger baler with a metal pto guard as you describe - free spinning with no chains
