Hiefer temperament

this morning iv had enough of a vicious kicking Hiefer, could easily of broke my hand, iv never got rid of an animal before for temperament, I don't mind kickers I have patience but it wears thin when an animal gets dangerous, my relief Milker milking this weekend I'm telling him not to milk her as she's going to market on Monday as I feel a law suit is more expensive than the 25 litres she would have potentially produced. Do many of u get rid of kickers? Or am I the only one going to hell!

Il be honest iv never even thought of shackles, that would certainly prevent the vicious kicks she brings to the table. Good idea, il try put them on tonight, have you done that for kickers before and found it helps?

Her mother was serious bad news aswell, number 86 , a bloody nice cow but she died out of the blue in a cubicle a couple years ago,she eventually calmed down in her second lactation. Her mother was a hunday duplex. I have 2 kickers out of 196 milking cows, and they are hiefers out of kicking cows! So much is genes is taken from the mother far more than the sire I think

yes weve done it, just make sure the chain is short inbetween. maye a rope around the leg tied to the rail to keep her nearer the milker, hope it works

do you have a foot trimming crush? put her in it and lift a leg till you get one shackle on then vise versa. the shackles we have have a chain inbetween that attach with a D-shackle to the leg band thats how we alter our length. might do indeed buffalo

one went from here in the new yr. gave a sly kick every now and then. but was a complete physco temperament wise. was a crap hfr not much milk so as glad to be rid.
have another hfr a much worse kicker bjt is so quiet you could ride her like a horse. so we have left her calf on and will turn hercvout for summer as a suckler. If shes the same next time round she be sold as a suckler with next calf with her as this yrs calf was a frisian bull:rolleyes:
