High protein molasses

Does anyone feed this?

If so, just wondering how you get on with it?

Thinking of trying it for the first time this winter and wondering if there are any pitfalls and stuff need to know...

Thanks in advance...

Not sure what you'd class as high, I fed I think 48 percent protein last winter, just levelled enough maize silage on the yard to last 24 hours, then had an ibc on the boom and put I think 1.5 litres per cow on it, then mixed it with the bucket and put it down the barrier, works ok.

Another forum member did have some off me for some stores and I think he fed it in a ball feeder.
He did indeed.... Very pleased too (y)

Rationed initially to save the youngstock gorging themselves, then ad-lib with hay and good straw as fodder. I prefer to put the molasses on a bale in a closed bottom feeder if rationing, but this was not feasible last winter, hence the lick feeder.

Bought the 17 AAX heifers at av 300/hd in late Jan, sold them last week for av 635/hd in Drayton in the stores.

They self limit on high protein molasses (urea). Really not a good move for young animals though.

we didn't keep using it as we run quite a big group through the winter and it was difficult to ensure every animal got a go at the feeder.
