You've really got to wonder where things are going right now. I don't think I've ever felt uneasy but something about the current situation doesn't feel right. Money losing value rapidly, can't het anything. Houses and land soaring through the roof.

Some of us aspire to earn more but if we are to believe the vision of our Dear Leader of a High Wage, High Skill economy where is the money coming from?

We as farmers are, in the main, price takers so there is very little room for increasing wages as we often have no clue to our income on a monthly basis.

Ergo, if we too aspire to the vision of higher remuneration, how do we address this?

Shortage of tradesmen - electricians on 300 a day - since farmers are well aware of the concept of working for a living how about
learning a new skill. Once qualified, a new van kitted out with tools - say 35 k !!! and you would recover that in 12 months ??
Could you say the same for a tractor ??

Trouble is if we have a high skill high wage economy, who cleans the toilet?

Those that get left behind I guess? Have to pay them enough to make a living on or they will resort to benefits.
