Hi. Have 03 d4d hilux. Had to put gearbox in two months ago as slipping out of first. All well till wk or so ago when firstly noticed constant clicking from glovebox. Then when power down n second and third gear a shudder followed by severe bang n drive line coming from front end. Mechanic had look thought tight spot n front diff when turnin it by hand so we swapped different diff n to it but same story but not sure if this good diff or not but coincidental. Old diff back n, changed oil n back diff no foreign objects and drove perfect for week or more. But now it's back clicking in glove box on steering to right sharpish at 30 40 mph and will bang also if shoe down second or third gear but doesn't do it all time. Anyone experience similar. Solution suggestion more than welcome. Tia.

You don't scrap this. It's worth good money any day of the week. I don't have any suggestions for the issue. Sorry. My 93 runs better than a new car.

Don't they have auto freewheel hubs? In 2wd any banging from the front is unlikely to be transfer box.
Try to isolate the problem before replacing stuff.
Remove drive shaft retainers on front hubs so non of the front axle rotates also rmove front prop shaft . If all quiet the next is to replace retainers then prop shaft until problem resurfaces.
As said above outer driveshaft joint most likely knackered and one of the balls worn and catching

is the cure for that

Ask on the hilux pick up owners club forum, very helpful on there

Does it have one of these axles with the shaft locking actuators,
If so then it could be an electrical problem

I do think electrics is part of problems As mechanic can't c anything wrong wit shafts. Clicking from glove box ecu before shudder and bang. Is fine in 4wd.
