Sorry this is another pickup thread!
Being unwilling to replace my Navara with another due to really poor service and back up from both the Nissan dealers I have tried added to the fact that they will soon not be available I am looking at alternatives.
Went and looked at the new Isuzu and drove one, came back totally under whelmed! And the price was out of this world with hardly any discount off list. I thought it lacked power and refinement and didn't compare in any shape and form to my Navara. However I am sure I would get better back up.
I have never being a fan of the Ford Ranger and know of too many issues with friends trucks. I also her Ford dealers back up is pretty poor.
That really just leaves Toyota, new model, bigger engine and power and good residual value. but what is it like as I haven't managed to get a demo yet.
Incidentally with NFU/ Mole Valley discount it is by far the best value for money and many thousand £ cheaper than the Isuzu! If you want one it is December/ Jan delivery at the moment. Maybe that tells you something.

It has to be a better option than the frankly pee poor 2.4L. To this day I cant work out why Toyota thought it was a good idea, other than to tick the emissions box.

The irony being that when they brought out the 2.4 they were selling the 500hp supercharged 5.7L Toyota Tunrda TRD edition in the US, so they can stick the 'saving the planet' spiel up their hoop...

You are right as our dealers said no hilux available this year, land cruiser commercial not until November. Must be selling them.

Dread to think how much a new one is now!! probably more suited to the builders and there modest profit margins.
Significantly less than an Isuzu, I was surprised how competitive it was for a like for like model , on a par or slightly cheaper than a Ford Ranger and arguably a better residual value. Dealers are asking more for two year old 2.4 Hilux than you can buy a new 2.8 for with the discount!

That does surprize me, i always thought the isuzu would be miles cheaper than the hilux, i must admit, the new shape hilux looks ok and yes your correct, 2nd hand would hold up better when trading back in.

Neighbour has one..... it’s very very agricultural. Gearbox is very slow to change. Styling (invincible x) is er erm interesting. Seating position is still awful . It’s noisy too . Personally I’d go Ford ranger

I think I need to go and drive both. I haven;t yet found anything as good to drive as the Navara. I have an open mind on what to go for, wish the Nissan dealers were better, should stick to selling Micras!

The Hilux invincible x is quite a bit cheaper than the d max range topper which I forget what it was called. Both with NFU discount though not really sure what that was on the Isuzu. Couldn’t get a test drive off local Toyota dealer as all he wanted to do was put an order in. Not buy one off them now. Test drove the new d max. It was ok but that engine lets it down and put me off. Delivery a month ago was going to be Nov for the Hilux. Delivery fir a d max a few months. D max has become expensive and no longer a cheaper option. My current 2.5 d max utah was £21500 plus extras 3.5 years ago. I thought about changing my vehicle due to mad offer of £22400 from webuyanyvan.com but changed my mind. If I was to wait until the end of the year for hilux delivery then may as well wait into next year and see what Ford release maybe. Seating position isn’t the best going on a current 2.4 invincible x. I haven’t sat in a new 2.8 Hilux though.

Which if I was changing this year would probably be my choice and maybe/probably a low mileage s/h one. Or a s/h Amorak 3.0.

Do Toyota do the, no haggle, the price is the price, thing in the UK yet like they do here?

I suppose they do if none are available until Decmber.
However pretty much all buying groups, rural membership organisations and fleet buyers seem to have “very special” arrangements with Toyota to get a discount. All of such arrangements look pretty similar percentage wise.

You'd get used to a long spell in jail. Doesn't mean you want to do so or stay there though.
I've been driving Hiluxes for thirty years, both mine and others and the driving position has never bothered me, unlike say a Land rover or a 200 series Massey, or for that matter a Transit. I would take the Hilux in preference to most vehicles in almost any situation. But as I say, its what you are used too.
