It was on the left going down Lady Anne's Drive, the last field before the pinewoods and beach.

I am only the novice, having spent 22 years in Africa. My father took it from 100 odd acres in the War to about 1300 before he died, rented in lots of land for carrots. I have lost the majority of the rented land, seen the staff cut to 1/3 of what it was. My wife developed the cheese, all I can take credit for is the AD and electronics side of things, although I was instrumental in the change to Brown Swiss, now going zero till where possible.

this is a really interesting thread, love seeing the old pictures and how far things have come in 50years, makes you wonder where we will be in another 50.

mind if I ask what you were doing in Africa, its always interesting to see how people live in other parts of the world

Im from Ireland so there is no tradition of anyone ever spending time in AFrica,

I would like to ask something similar. What took you to Africa away from something that looked from the pictures ancd videos to be the ideal farming business
Maybe when I get more up to date with this thread I will show some of Africa. 9 years at the University of Malawi teaching agricultural engineering and doing research on tractor energy use. Then 4 years at Tobacco Research looking at ways of reducing fuelwood use for tobacco curing, finally 9 years at Tea Research building a research tea factory and investigating tea drying.
