Ive just had an email supposedly, from HMRC . but it reads a bit od. it say i have a refund of £347.67 and if click on the link, and have my credit/ debit card ready. thay will credit the refund direct to my card. i have forward this <fake.> email to HMRC.At first glance it looks ok but on second look, its dodgy.
You’re not alone. I’ve just had the same mail for repaying £340.53 to my card if I have it ready. Didn’t know government gateway made payments:eek: I feel like replying they got the date wrong as yesterday I would of thought it a joke:D Do these nerds not realise that Bacs is the normal debit/credit method with the powers that be.

Mrs YB had the same thing yesterday and IIRC for the same amount:mad:

I just wish I was 'tech savvy' enough to send them a nasty virus (preferably something like Orf) through their link. Barstewards:mad:

020 3960 5122 called me today. I dont answer unknown numbers, but I Googled it when I got back to find it was previously used by scammers saying they were HMRC.

That's a mobile number. Would HMRC (or any bank) call you from a mobile?
yes my bank did call me from a mobile , my annual review was needed, they made me an appointment and went, all was straight up, I asked why call from mobile number, she said it was so if I needed to change or cancel the meeting, I could contact direct,
she also said they would never call and ask for information to do with accounts
