HMRC Self Employed Grant Scheme

All the same, its going to be somewhat of a traumatic business handling over a years worth of tax in one go in January.

Particularly when the tax on (maybe) two self-employed grants is included. We will try to pay tax in July (1st August ?) just to soften the blow. Otherwise, Christmas will be ruined.

Only one month of grant in last year.

Accountant told me this morning that he had one client partnership with five claims. Three got bounced out with the fault. Two were phone processed, and one online.

How is it different?

Case i was told about
25k profit
50k loss
15k profit
Average for 3 years is 10k loss so no 70% payment

I think you don't understand. This is a technical error occurring, where their system throws applications out when it thinks someone is impersonating the claimant. The claims in themselves are perfectly valid. Meet all the conditions, including a trading profit under 50k.

My wife had hers thrown out, as their system laterally decided that the claim was being made by someone else fraudulently. Even though she typed it up herself, on her own tablet, in her own house.

Did you get it sorted?
Did a second phone application 2 weeks ago and have heard nothing yet!

Funny you ask. It's not sorted yet. You need to ring them up, because it's not coming.

I got the missus to ring them yesterday. Got another set of apologies and excuses, saying their system had failed again, and rejected another 10,000 applications. They reset her file, and said to wait 48 hours before reapplying. Again!

You can claim both.. Or just the second. It's 70% & capped at £2,190 or a total of £6,570

The only wording to it is "You need to have been adversely affected by coronavirus on or after 14 July 2020 to claim it"

It'll all be on HMRC website Monday.. and you apply the same way with your UTR etc.. No Stories about prices or tales of woe needed.
