I haven't had any freelance work since March, and it's now indicated that what might have been started next month is sidling towards October.

The grant won't be much at all, but I'll put a Rollo of gratitude in the Post for Rishi, nevertheless.

You can claim both.. Or just the second. It's 70% & capped at £2,190 or a total of £6,570

The only wording to it is "You need to have been adversely affected by coronavirus on or after 14 July 2020 to claim it"

It'll all be on HMRC website Monday.. and you apply the same way with your UTR etc.. No Stories about prices or tales of woe needed.
Any sheep farmers out there trying to justify a second claim ,,and if so how???

What exactly does 'caring responsibilities' mean?

We had a week after 14th July where our son was not at school (school closed and school holidays hadn't started), so I had to care for him whilst wife was at work. Does that count?

Also, I recon UK barley prices are being affected by US maize imports that would have otherwise gone into bioethanol if it gad not been for coronavirus. Hard to prove, but again - is that a credible reason for income being affected by covid?

How many have claimed the 1st but not the 2nd? Might speak to our accountant on this. 1st time round we were out of pocket a fair bit but this time we have been busy as normal but worried what the winter holds. Would rather claim it and stick it somewhere to give back if asked and if we didnt need it. Or is it if it says you can claim take it no questions...

I happily claimed the 1st after speaking to the accountant & having several reasons to claim .
This time so far not so much effected kids are at school, able to sell stock , not waiting for replacement parts & back to full labour force as father not isolating.
This is obviously now due to change over the next few weeks & any of the above are likely to happen again, though I can see beef / lamb prices are likely to hold but there's a risk of slaughter houses shutting for short periods , maybe?
If I can't sell stock or price drops significantly before the October 17th /19th? deadline then I would claim , if everything remains as is then I won't.
