You don’t want to be doing much wondering...you want them testing asapSome of our cows are slipping, wondering if that's fluke aswell

It might not even be fluke...Jagged the 3 worst ones, rest get done when they come in, the 3 lean ones have the most terrible skitter!
250 ish so too many, been dosing today but maybe need to Heptavac as well5 out of how many? If it's 30 you have a problem.
If it's out of 2000 it could just be the stress of transport etc.
I would definitely heptavac. Did you quarantine drench?
How much/head would that be?Id be eager to get a PM done. Then assess from there really.
If your buying store lambs in, profits are going to be marginal so you'll need to cover all basis on animal health really.
Id be inclined to treat with ovivac or heptavac p to cover clostridial.
Fluke & worm, scab and a shot of Trace elements for good measure should ensure a healthy flock!
Somehow I don't think fluke treatments work on Johnes disease.Jagged the 3 worst ones, rest get done when they come in, the 3 lean ones have the most terrible skitter!

If you’d culled those two last year you’d only have one this yearIts not Johnes disease, 2 of them went lean last year, vet tested them came back negative

Negative test does not always mean they haven't got it.Its not Johnes disease, 2 of them went lean last year, vet tested them came back negative
Negative test does not always mean they haven't got it.
Because johnes has such a long incubation period it might not show up in a test today but might in 6 months or a year after it has "hatched" (No idea if atched is the right word but it makes sense ifuts incubated )Why does it come back negative then?
If the vet managed to catch a blood vessel with the mycotil I understand that can kill them. The last 2 PM we got done did not give us any answers apart from confirming they were dead. Testing while alive showed fluke and worms so presume they did not respond to the treatment.
A few years ago we took 13 hoggs to the vet and 4 out of 13 died after an injection of Mycotil for persistent foot rot or similar. The PMs said they had evidence of worms and liver damage due to fluke and the stress of the 4 mile journey was the trigger???
On the basis that 2 had collapsed before we left the vet and another 4 had to be carried out of the trailer 15 minutes later then I am sure anaphylaxis was the cause but the PM meant we got no compensation.
