Just wondering, if you guys needed to bolt posts down and the foundation work was already completed so you couldn’t you the likes of the above mentioned or your own bolt boxes etc, would you use threaded bar and chemical anchor or what else would you use that would be a strong safe job?

I’d go with the resin - as it grips along the full length of the thread. Throughbolts rely on a smaller contact area, expansion grip and are easier to muck up.

Resin is fine but as with most things, it’s not all created equal! Hilton although horrendously expensive are very good with their technical advice. There’s a whole array of different resins out there, some will suit green concrete, others when holes are full of water etc etc. We’ve been on jobs where pull out tests have been required (electricity sub stations) and the pull loads can be huge! All will have technical data sheets available online I should imagine with their rated straight loadings.

You can get the bolt i.e. M20 square. Square - Wax cone - square washer normally 100mm sq - and small washer for the top m20
Cut a inch of the wax cone will give you a little more leeway with footing depth

As has been said above, can't beat Hilti or Fischer, we use both on the railway and the test loads are enormous for what we're hanging off them
