Holidays

You have my sympathies and I understand your predicament. For July, I'd probably have had a good look at my travel insurance to see if there was any potential to claim against it now, or else hold my nerve in anticipation of the travel company cancelling it closer to the date - it's about 50:50 that they will, and if not you can probably find a friendly doctor to confirm to your travel insurers that you're not fit to travel with the nasty cold you developed the week before.

I have a holiday booked for November to USA. We're not going, but haven't told BA that yet - I'm fairly confident that between now and then there will be something that will allow me to cancel without charge - either a flight time change or something similar. If it gets to late October and nothing has happened, I'll stand the cancellation fee.
We would have liked to hold our nerve but as the days pass the admin fee goes up significantly and once we hit the last fortnight or so they won’t let us change dates and keep the money. It takes a few hours to get through to someone to speak to so we just changed it now.

14 days is significant as before that they’re not obliged to pay you compensation if they cancel. They will try their best to get you blink before they have to, and who can blame them?

The Mrs likes “holidays” so I leave it all to her to sort out but really I prefer a few beers and a barbie at home. No queuing, no hassle. Get up when you like, go to bed when you like, what's not to like. And you can still go to the shed if you feel like it. Most holidays I have been on are harder than a days work. .... but I don’t work that hard. ?

My Mrs couldn`t organise a barbecue but I agree that the stress and aggro involved in holiday organisation is worse than a hard days work.

People won't forget the airlines that tried to shaft them , very poor practice . actually very poor industry
When it comes down to a cheap seat on a plane memories will be very short, people will still fly again with the cheap airlines once they are able to.

Great industry that has opened up the world to many who would not be able to afford to fly otherwise. They market their product well and have increased sales dramatically, agriculture could learn a lot from the likes of Michael O'Leary.

Like marketing sh1t and trusting the consumer like an idiot to take the bait?

It was really the only option for us. The quarantine thing would bugger things up for us as well. I’ve been told there’s no quarantine after this month but who knows.
Im happy with this outcome to be fair the mrs maybe not so.
I hope anyone else on here who has a paid for holiday imminent reads this so they don’t loose out

They market what they sell, it is written on the tin, Low cost, No frills, Non refundable. A great number of their customers would appear to be idiots, once they have paid for the Low cost, No frills, Non refundable seat they only want the Low cost portion, conveniently forgetting the No frills, Non refundable part, (which is why it is low cost).

I would certainly have to question their intelligence and also their ability to read. What part of No Frills, Non refundable do customers not understand?
