It was booked for July.
They told us we had to go or cancel.
It’s not practical for us to go. The wife looks after a relative with terminal cancer. Two of our children have had bronchitis as babies both critically ill at the time the second was almost put into an induced coma she was so bad
We won’t be going anywhere

You have my sympathies and I understand your predicament. For July, I'd probably have had a good look at my travel insurance to see if there was any potential to claim against it now, or else hold my nerve in anticipation of the travel company cancelling it closer to the date - it's about 50:50 that they will, and if not you can probably find a friendly doctor to confirm to your travel insurers that you're not fit to travel with the nasty cold you developed the week before.

I have a holiday booked for November to USA. We're not going, but haven't told BA that yet - I'm fairly confident that between now and then there will be something that will allow me to cancel without charge - either a flight time change or something similar. If it gets to late October and nothing has happened, I'll stand the cancellation fee.

Thankfully we were told today our trip in October can be postponed up to 12 months if we like, which we will certainly do. Really don't fancy being in third world at this time. Not sure whether there will be surcharges on the flights though.
feel very sorry for those people in those countries who rely on the tourists, as there will be no furlough or benefits for them

Interesting to see how insurance premiums react after this .

For any proper airline, I’d be saying that’s you quids in with compensation due under European regulations. With Ryanair, no chance. Best you can hope for is that you’ve paid on credit card. My advice is to wait the statutory refund period (7 days?) And then lodge a S75 claim with your credit card company.

Well , the credit card companies don't want to know either .

Presumably issued by a bank or finance house of some sort? MasterCard licence the brand to other outfits and don’t issue their own cards in the UK, not like AMEX do. You really can’t get through to the issuer ?
Tried Halifax and got fobbed off by the automatic phone thing , not overly concerned I'll use the credit pretty quick when we're happy it's safe to fly .
