Holstein Bulls

For one lactation.

Really though, his milk proof is ok but there are way better bulls for milk and without the downsides.

Bulls like baxton are terrible for the breed. Lucky he never really bred on and we can eradicate his genetics from the population.

I think he bred on and a lot of defiant heifers are great looking animals.

I’m not going to disagree with your statement or fully agree. I will say some bulls do better in some herds and others tank. If you used planet on Braxton and then robust then to mogul, I’d say it would make sense. If you don’t want mogul use Massey or a good strength bull.

Braxton is just a puke of a bull and should have been destroyed as a calf. He makes “pretty” pieces of gabarge that cost dairy farmers lots of money to keep around. His numbers don’t lie.

Well when that old Braxton I have freshens I’ll take a photo of her. She’s a milk truck (lorry). I think it’s a preference thing.

Well I also had another that did breed back and calves

in to the day 3x in a row.

It’s telling that you can only give an example of one good Braxton. Before the genomic era would you trust the proof of a bull with one daughter?

One Braxton managing to get pregnant doesn’t trump the thousands of daughters in his proof that say that as a group of daughters he transmits the worst fertility of almost any Holstein bull.

We have all had poor bulls that manages a good one or two. Doesn’t make them a good bull though.

Anyone milking any prehen omen? Ticks all the boxes for us smaller stature good chest width and good fat and protein %. Just a shame he isn't sexed.
Mores to the pity, Johnny Kelso tried to convince the powers that be at Ai Services HQ to get him sent over to Chester for a run of sexed, but to no avail. We still use him regularly as a company just a pity there'll soon be no more. Use wisely and sparingly!

We've 4 milking Omens, 2 are now dry and the other 2 will be dry shortly. They're solid wee cows, just like his proof would indicate. They've averaged about 6000-6500 in their first lactation, which is standard enough here, we tend to aim for 9000 litre mature cows, not 9000 litre heifers. By the sounds of it, I'd need to get another order in soon.

You may! Even we're getting tight on supplies, only 50 straws sent to our E'killen depot last week, I very quickly nabbed 20!

Didn't realise he is in short supply. Will find out if there is any available.
