Agree that feed efficiency is key... But how to interpret that from the proofs? Look at production vs. maintenance as a rough guide?

On grazing Holsteins, it's a smaller stature Holstein with good legs and feet that can make milk off grass.

Here's one interpretation:

That's not grazing...... No wonder the spring calvers run away from holstein, if they need that much management, pretty happy to stick to Monkey cow which do all the hard work👍

We're doing kgms/kglw ,with no flash management, would the average Holstein do that?

You would be surprised. I've just looked at one herd I visited today and a random half dozen cows all came back around the 1.5kgs solids/1 kg LW. Absolutely nothing flashy about this herd and I think theres room for improvement still.

This one?

Why, is he expensive?
This one I think?
Hes the highest pli bull available, you've got to sign a contract saying that you'll genomically test all heifers from him and that Cogent have first dibs on any bull calves from him

We served some captain this season, realistically not in a different price league (there was a deal on at the time) and we got our best conception rates from him. Well worth it for us!

I deliberately stay away from knowing the prices.

I heard the price of one bull we used and both eyebrows shot off the top of my head! Next day we had another 100 straws turn up!

Gently into the thawer, dont drop it, steady now...
