That sounds just the ticketBought a 12" x 12" bit of mesh off ebay (can't remember the hole size off hand), screwed it to some batten with some handles and used as a sieve over a cut down 200L plastic drum. House fan just situated next to it to blow chaff.
Litre jug scooping out the bag and onto the sieve.
Bout an hour and saving £££.
Don't need anything fancy for 40-60 acres we used to grow.
Edit. Will get away with dirtier if going throw accord
I found a bit of guttering pipe about 45 degrees from a stepladder into a bucket with a leaf blower positioned at the bottom blowing up works well. 20L drum with a hole cut to suit the flow mounted on the top run of the stepladder and just top up with a jug.
a few bits of gaffer tape in the gutter helps make the seed/chaff bounce a bit . Done a few tonnes like this over the years and never had any problems putting it through a stocks micro meter
Not sure I can picture how this works?
Do you hire the kit out?Fire guard or similar sized mesh. Place it over top of wheelbarrow, with one end resting on lower end of wheelbarrow. Sieving operative stood at wheel end of wheelbarrow holding sieve at an angle whilst reciprocating it. Loading man using a bucket to slowly pour rapeseed onto sieve.
Clean seed falls into wheelbarrow, chaff etc. ends up on floor.
You'll be done in 10 mins. Works fine through accord metering unit.
New mobile seed cleaning business idea. Wonder what customers would think if arrive with wheelbarrow and a fireguard.Do you hire the kit out?
or maybe come do it on contract
It’s ok were already a 2 wheelbarrow farm, (yeah I know it’s all a bit posh) so all you need to fetch is the fire guardNew mobile seed cleaning business idea. Wonder what customers would think if arrive with wheelbarrow and a fireguard.
