How does your TCN get on with 12 inch ploughing ?

Don't ask!!!!!

Local matches are 10&12" classes
Scottish classic is minimum 11"
Folk moan about tcns in 10"
Class as they confuse 10"
For vintage and think 12" is classic

I'm at 11", in the 12" class and sod the haters!!!!!

In mine, and a lot of other folks opinions, when we plough at an affiliated match, for a royal highland society medal, awarded by the scpa, then we should
Plough to Scottish rules with Scottish classes!!!!!!!

Why the ban on Hyd controls? All they do is make it easier for the ploughman to move existing adjustments. It just discriminates against elderly or disabled ploughmen, who may not be able to turn the thread at arms length. I know I could not adjust the depth of my KV from the seat after my heart surgery, pulled too hard on the incision scar!

Been thinking about this recently

I was originally for hydraulics but then decided that we should stay as we are, unless we want to make bigger barriers to the sport, most tractors currently in the classic class have limited hydraulics ( most only have single acting spool)

To have effective hydraulic adjustments you would need double acting and two of them.

This would have a big impact from a cost / knowledge point of view.

Ploughing is about the machine and the soil not about how mechanical your ability is.

Currently to plough classic you could get a decent set up for a cpl of grand

I often look at the world style boys and think jesus christ look at the cost of the outfit and the lorry you need to lug it around, it must have an impact on how many compete in the class, unless that is what they want to make it easier to win as less entrants.

Classic isn't as cheap as people think, I bought a KV on super hydreins last month for £1600 completely original as it left the factory. Find me a 86 for that money. Even a 59 by the time you've put genuine TCNs on won't be far of that figure

My tractor could I believe plough in classic, and the hyd system was removed from my Nuffield Universal Four. All the hyd components came from scrap machines, and that includes those on the plough. My lorry cost £750.00 many years ago(I know, it shows!) Going back to the hyds though, there is no reason for them to cost more than a few hundred pounds, all that is need is a diligent search of auction sites and scrap yards. The most expensive parts will be the hoses, they do need to be new.

Yes but the costs will increase as more people will want them

As for the age thing. Most trailed guys are older and they have to lug and load the kit

Harry you have a class that allows you to plough with all the help you need, we don't need to make the classic class any more expensive to compete

In some cases, it already is! I could buy two world style ploughs, and fit them with new shares, for the amount mentioned on here for a top line ts 86!

Rubbish super hydreins are still more than capable of getting a first in the right hands, not mine might I add.
In the right ground they are competitive. This was mentioned to me at the national, when two Irish visitors stopped me on the way from my plot, and asked if the plough was for sale. They were interested because it had Super hydreins.

Thought as much. I would like to have a look at the shares as well, the boards dont do all the work. The shape cut out has a bearing on the work as well.

Not saying they can't but the question to be asked is when did the winner of the national or the world's last use them
To be honest I don't know who uses what boards for certain, although world style at my local match was won by supers against 25's and the chap with the 25's has made the plough of several times. When was the last time anyone one won the classic at the national without a 86?
