homemade autosteering egnos

VERY interesting thread. Huge congratulations on what you have achieved. Roughly how much do you think it has cost you to get to this stage? Commercial kit to do this to the same accuracy seems to be around £7k - £9k.

Does your software allow you to download/save a record of what you have done?

I don't think it's that dear. I'd say to could get kitted for £5k

I had a version running with an imu, but results are not yet sufficient, too much emu drift over time; I think I should invest on a high grade emu instead of the one I use. however I already noticed that tilt/roll has a large impact on position accuracy (antenna is on the cab roof)
Is there any way you could mount the antenna lower to reduce tilt/roll? Always try the simple solutions first

Really? What kit?

I have been running an EZ-Guide 250 for a while then changed to BB Advance. To add basic auto steer I seem to be looking at £5k just for T2 steering, more for T3 with an electronic steering valve (on a JD6310).

Very hard to justify on a 400 acre grass farm. That's why this thread is so interesting.

I've had a trimble 750 and autopilot for not too much more than that.

of course, I already tried it at a lower place , hood nose, but cab can obstruct the sky, which could be a problem when a sbas (egnos correction sat, there is few of these sats) is hidden. My personal conclusion: I prefer a clear sky with more roll effects that the reverse

Plus the cost of equipping the tractor to be steer ready, to be the commercial equivalent of what Stef has done.
Exactly. I'll be looking very closely next week at LAMMA. I'm also about to refurb an 18 metre Cleanacres mounted sprayer and looking to fit a new electric control system for 9 section control with a view to going auto-section in the near future. I will be looking closely for kit for this too but would be interested in how @stef has done his.

True but most new tractors can be equipped relatively cheap.
You could have a fendt an Mf and a JD r series all steer ready. For about 4.5k you could have a receiver you could share between all three. Not bad at all

I've been wondering how cheaply I could make my 10 series JD steer ready. The valve is not that expensive and most farmers could probably plumb it in (with the right advice). The steering angle sensors may be more complex but it's the controllers and T3 compensator that are beyond most of us.

Occasionally the full OEM kit appears at a reasonable price on the USA EBay site but beware of import duty.

Could most farmers t into a steering orbital safely? Full proportional valves aren't that cheap! Bearing in mind you are t into a steering systems that control the steering at 40-50k on the road. It's needs to be done by people that know what they are doing!
If you pipe it wrong it'll blow orbital up..... They are not cheap!

Ok, true. Not to be done on a whim. Quite do-able though with guidance or suitable research.

I went to my jd dealer in order to be sure how to connect the electrovalves to the orbitrol. Not complicated.
I added manual valves in order to isolate this additional circuit in case of failure; not yet used until now :)
