Honda 250 quad stalling

Have a honda 250 quad. Think it's a 2010 model. It was working fine. Went on holidays for a week and came home and it's not running right since.

Basically it will start up from cold and run for about 40 seconds as normal. Then it wants to stall no matter how much accelator I give it. It will run ok for another 30 seconds with the choke out before giving up again. Won't start after that and I just push it back into the shed. Has plenty of petrol in it.

Where do I start and what do I check.

Carbie needs a clean. IMO.
That’s the first check.

Daltons ATV’s will check your ignition box if you send this to them.
I had a clients Honda do this. It ran briefly then cut out. New box sorted the problem.

My 250 has never run on tick over from new (2007) when the starter packed up the dealer said it was because I stopped it all the time saving petrol,no the feckin thing stops itself.
Recently it’s started stopping when giving it throttle.👎

See if it does it with the petrol cap off. If it's OK then check the vent in the cap. You may be lucky, but it does sound more like a low speed jet in the carb being blocked. You'll have to get the carb off & strip & clean it to remedy that. Have a look on Youtube & buy a can of carb cleaner.
