My Honda quad bike wouldn’t start, I hooked it up to a battery pack and it started after a few pushes of the buttons. As soon as a removed the pack lead from the battery terminal it stopped! I tried a few times but each time i removed the lead from the battery pack it stopped!
any suggestions?
normally once I have jumped it like this it keeps going!
thanks

Mine is doing a similar thing at the moment, there is a relay by the battery on mine that is making a clicking noise, i have not worked out if its the relay on mine which is f**ked or the battery, a few times i have got mine going i have to wait 5 or 10 minutes before the electric change will operate. Is this similar to yours?

Usually regulator or relay goes boils the battery. Don’t try and start it again. I pull started mine and it was regulator that had gone boiled battery and popped Ecu in the end cost £1200 for bits

As it's stated on the battery if it's 12v or 6v that is what your voltmeter should show unless its one, been on charge or vehicle has been running in which case with it stopped, it will be over stated voltage, if battery had it then it could show anything from a little or lot below, one should never keep jumping something because it can as been stated mess up starting or charging system, the quickest way to check a lead acid battery is with a drop tester which will put a load on it, if you have to fit another motor on one of these don't buy a cheap one as i have found the spline's on the pinion end start to twist, better to rebuild your own one..

Check for over charging, I have probably done 50-60 regulators on this model, it is very common to go and cook the battery so it won’t even hold enough charge to run it, never mind start
