Snacker says itl carry 350kg. No idea what it weighs. Manager told me he is wanting away from Honda because they are too soft.

The estate is all ground types from Grade 3 Arable, rolling lowland right upto bracken hill and peat moor with a windfarm at top. From the main steading up to the back of the hill will be 5 miles if not more.
meh not to heavy really then! would you class 5 miles as a long run? furthers ive gone in the hill with the trailer and that weight is 15!! you do need a support bike though...

well I recon the 420 will most likely do everything you need, uncles 420 did 15000 k in the first year and 13000 k in the second has given a few small problems but far more reliable then the king quad 450s or 500 they have had we will have to see how the 750 holds up hes wanting another Honda thought to run with the 750.
Saying that we have 2 foremans at work and there in a different level for towing but as said above the 420 can tow the weights I was speaking about above!!

Never said it was a long run - i was giving you an idea of what they are doing. It's 5mile going from point A to B. But feeding and checking cattle on 3500 acres(7000 acre estate) they will clock up big miles tugging a snacker behind them.

Never heard of a can am. Yamaha is a good bit dearer and trade in would be very poor as she only has 1st and 5th. Rest of gears went in a week. She doesnt owe me anything in fairness but was a bitch on fuel. On flat groud and she mostly used for herding stock and spreading fert (as little as i can). Yamaha would be my choice but b7dget is holding me back. These sheep wont set you on fire
Have a yamaha 450 here dom, and a honda 500, the grizzly wins hands down, honda is manual and yam is auto, way prefer the auto box, any 420s i see look wrecked, will they not do u a good deal on a newer 2nd hand honda 500 auto?

The scrappage on the new bike is too good to pass up and a 2 year warranty is very attractive. In fairness the guy dealing in hondas here has a great reputation for standing over any problems and is easy deal with and only 10 miles down the road. If he had a good second hand i might try it but thats not the case so i think i will go for it. Been impossible to manage sheep last few days without it. Legs are falling off me!

I dunno how the hell people keep sheep without one. The oul shepherds must have been fit or maybe the sheep were easier looked after. Only tool i cant do without. Stuck behind the jeep nearly every spot i go to

Fitter men fitter better harder dogs and less sheep per man is how they did it.
Maybe we will have to go back to fitter men and better dogs but the less sheep per man is the sticky one. Theres a good one. How many lowland crossbred ewes can one man/woman manage on their own outdoor lambing. Interesting to hear peoples estimates. I reckon around1200 on a reasonable unit witout too much fragmentation.

Id say 1200 per man outside would be quite easy especially when set stocked for lambing, a friend of mine and his father run about 4000 ewes between them all lambing outside, u might know them dom, up near rossinver

Sure i will give it a go without. If i could get myself to live off grass aswell i could make them super efficent kiwi types look positively pedestrian. Profit would be through the roof!

They used to have ground taken near us, often bought lambs off them, pure gentle men, our ewes lambing outside started today, picked a good week to start, hope not much snow comes!
