It's unfortunate that the EU are playing silly beggars about this, some say this is what we signed up for but all the evidence says it's politics. Nobody is going to tell me that if a wagon went from France to Germany with a form filled in with the wrong pen that the load would be condemned so if the will was there it could be sorted.
The BOE boss says that we are being given rules that no other country in the world are asked to abide by and the EU wouldn't accept them so why are we expected to?
Teething troubles were to be expected but petty point scoring wasn't. At least we are now aware of the fact that they were only interested in our money.
If that is the case it is unfair. Could that man explain what rules are the exception to the Uk and get it discussed

You don’t need a form on a waggon from France to Germany, just like we didn’t used to, to the uk🤷‍♂️

Why is brexit going to lead to Scotland leaving ? They have been told they cant use the pound so will need to use the euro straight away, they dont meet the criteria to join the eu atm , of course the eu may bend the rules out of spite but it's a huge jump from people telling pollsters they will vote to leave the uk and them.doing it
The EU always bends the rules when it suits them but this time they may have second thoughts about the further expansion of their Empire.

So what has changed. Are you suggesting that illegal practices are the sole preserve of the UK. Many instances of illegal trade and trade practices have come to light within the EU over the years and will continue to do so. Most of them have been exposed by whistle blowers , breakdown in food health standards together with the VW emissions scandal and the truck manufacturer`s cartel. The EU may set very stringent trade standards but it doesn`t always police them very well. Perhaps border checks on goods in transit within the EU would be a start. If the results were made public the real rogues may be exposed rather than a fake witch hunt aimed at the UK.

A reduction in GDP and inward investment resulting in the average UK resident being poorer?
A rise in poverty resulting in UNICEF feeding UK children?
An explosion in UK government debt?
Scotland leaving?
A border down the Irish sea
Where is your line in the sand, when Brexit is doing too much damage to the UK to be worth it?
Being in an in theory weatlhier country does not mean necessarily that everybody in it has a better quality of life or has more opportunities , as a rule - "money tends to go to money " , creating a more divided an unequal situation , eg the distribution of the CAP and the way the UK property market works now means that reasonable personal ambitions for alot of people are now more" dream ".like . We have a created a have and have not society - alot of people sought a change and Brexit has given opportunity for change
, but change is a gamble so who knows ?

What has changed is the UK left the EU. They didn’t want to be in it,they gave up all the “ perks “ that go with it such as frictionless trade, customs union etc. This is the price that has to be paid. To expect anything else was infantile. It’s not a witch hunt it’s just different rules if you’re not in it. These are part of the reasons why remainers voted remain. There were many disadvantages to being in the EU but also many advantages. The scales tipped differently for remainers and Brexiters.

I do not disagree but you have highlighted the fact that this is a club which gives you rights and privileges in return for payment. In a free and fair society these perks have to be earned and cannot be bought.

This is precisely the point! I would imagine the UK is sending the same goods to the EU that it did pre Jan to the same standards and so on. The fact is the UK rightly or wrongly decided to leave the Union. The politicians in Brussels did everything to persuade the UK not to leave and therefore put in place conditions which our side may or may not have signed up to which has created the non free, free trade deal. I have no quarrel with the people in any part of Europe in fact many good friends in fact but the Brussels machine is broken or breaking in terms of integration dreams. Do the majority of the member states really want a United States of Europe? In getting to where we are today i would say there is a hardening attitude to Brussels over here now from a big % of the country - not an anti European feeling but anti Brussels and its administration. Now of course this is “whipped up” by all the stuff being posted on media platforms - the real truth of the political relations is unknown as we are not privy to those discussions. I hope in time relations settle down - our BOE CEO eluded to this earlier this week. At the end of the day the UK could survive without German cars and many European sourced food - farm machinery might be an issue though as most sold in the UK is sourced from the EU :banghead:

I laughed out loud at that. Best chuckle so far today. I highlighted the word SURVIVE. If what you are saying is the Sunny Uplands I doubt not being able to change the Beemer and have Aubergine will keep the population onside. Keep them coming. Cheers.

If they want to sell us Beemers then compete with Tesla, Kia, Toyota and so on. Easy. I've run a few German cars and it's like open wallet surgery.

What will likely happen, in my opinion is that there will be a UK / EU trade deal, version 2.0. That will likely mean a sharp reduction in UK red lines, resulting in any one of five different versions of an oven ready deal offered by Barnier right from the outset. All were peed on by the ERG types in UK, as they infringed “sovereignty”. I think people from Lands End to John O’Groats now realise “sovereignty”, don’t butter the toast, never mind put a bit of marmalade on top!
Call your local MP and tell him which one of these offered by Barnier, you think best suits Joe the plumber, Joe the fisherman and Joe the farmer. And here’s the good thing also @The Agrarian ’s wife would be able to get that nice couch she has been planning on with a while.

You voted in a government to take you out of the single market. Simple as that.
You - are not in our single market.
Now, you have to trade on different terms.
I am fortunate enough to have never understood “self harm”.
I still dont🤷‍♂️

Pasty, I never said they shouldn't compete with other no European brands. They do compete now. And our house is a good example. I drive a Nissan built in Sunderland. My wife did drive an Audi which end of 2020 she replaced with a nearly new BMW. My wife has always had German brands. And she will continue to do so while she can afford them.

I was just commenting each to their own. Just that as this Brexit thingy doesn't seem to be working quite as forecast the Brexit folk seem to have a different view now of the Sunny Uplands. Those who did prefer to Remain are somewhat perplexed that the forecast of those fellas Gove, Farage, Hannan and Johnson somehow are not quite turning out to be as they said, and we are just calling them out - as they are still in charge, so why should we believe a thing they say now.

Looks as though it will be cabbage and spuds - and watching Jamie Oliver of catch up to see an Aubergine being cooked. I dread to think what the Waitrose crew will do.
