I went to the AHDB conference yesterday, and as I sat there, I was thinking how much Levy money was spent on Hotels/Meals and the conference itself. As I looked around the room of 80 or so people, you can spot a farmer a mile off, and I would be surprised if there were more than a dozen actual levy payers in the room. This was beginning to make me feel rather resentful, listening to speakers talking high prices and good profits, and would offset any fertiliser increases. Then I watched as an awkward question regarding Equivalence to Imports and Red Tractor appeared on the Questions and Answers screen, it was briefly answered and washed aside, with the question removed from the screen, even though other questions remained. The industry needs to wake up and realise not everyone has sold well, got a shed full of glyphosate and bought all their N.

Just another load of gravy train riders our industry doesn’t need. Add them onto the Nfu and Red Tractor.

fraudsters basically robbing us all for absolutely nothing. Good riddance to them next year when the cereals vote comes along.

I'm not ok. I have covid and, apart from yesterday where I managed to walk downstairs, I haven't left my bed since Friday.

So currently very little farming going on.

If you test positive on a PCR, do you have to self isolate at home for 10 days which means you cant even go on your tractor and carry on farming if you have no symptoms and feel ok (in an isolated way ?)
Ive heard of people receiving a phone call each day checking that they have not left the house ?
Went for a PCR test at the weekend and luckily was negative but not sure implications workwise a positve result would have especially when you are busy and weather dependant.

You cannot leave "your property". I queried this with the people on the helpline. It's pretty much self enforced, but in my case do I really want to pass it on to my elderly parents? If I isolate in the loader delivering seed to the drills I can't see that as an issue. Ditto sitting on my own tractor in my own field.

Somebody pointed out though if you had an accident on farm / travelling between fields and paramedics had to attend, whether you were breaking the rules if you tested positive and liable to a fine.
I feel that you are better not getting it confirmed officially and carry on in your own isolated way if positive on a lateral flow.

The data suggests getting it gives you the greatest and longest lived immunity. That's public health England and Israeli health folk. Five to six months immunity PHE.

And T cell immunity for much longer than that, which I think means your body retains a memory of the infection and can ramp up its immune response much more quickly in future.
