We have started drilling beans with our Avatar and are having problems with beans blocking in the tip of the coulter, has anyone else had this and does anyone know if Horsch offer a bean coulter?

I take it the Avatar is single disc coulter?
It might be the scrapers are too tight, not allowing disc to turn cleanly?

Yes the avatar is single disc, it’s definitely blocking in the tip of the coulter, I’ve walked behind it for a good few hours.

yes - there is a kit with a wider colter opening that actually fits a bean, our dealer or Horsch UK didn't know at the time this but a french farmer on here pointed us ion the right direction with part numbers etc

Short term just remove the plate, still works fine on beans

I don’t suppose you have the pet number do you please Clive? Fortunately we only had a small amount of this large seed but will need to sort something for winter bean drilling. Apart from that we are really impressed with the drill so far.

We changed our coulter openings this year, only one blockage for the whole bean campaign (100 ha). As apposed to the usual 5 or 6 per field.
They’re a bit of a faff to change, but it beats lying under the drill on the field in the dark.
