So the plan is to ditch the grain cart (offers on a postcard please !!), remove the 24 wheels, fit 2/4 terra type tyres at rear, make a drawbar and fit a smaller accord seed hopper at the rear above the wheels.
I intend moving the tines closer together @200mm and make the width 4.8m to match my 24m tramlines.
Source or make narrow points to use the drill for beans and cereals., and then next week !!!

For absolute minimal disturbance don't think the metcalfe can be beaten for what they cost if you want the option of possibly a wider band or a minimal disturbance point then the Dutch industries units definitely worth a look and more getting about with a couple of people on here running them. Don't know about the gen or bourgault alternatives.

Be v interested to see your ideas develop in metal.

Cheers

Don't think so anymore due to time v volume. but may adapt existing to suit. They do produce a point similar now for simba freeflows which with its std 2 hole mounting will fit other machined

Not sure if I need a spare seed cart but might be interested in some other spares.
Also, if you want to see some crops drilled with metcalfe points you're welcome to come over and have a look.

Any updates on drill? Thinking of doing something similar.
The project got side tracked when my neighbour bought a ready to go C04, we decided i would buy the NEW wearing metal and use his drill this spring to see what we could learn. Drilled Barley and Oats with it plus a few beans.
Fitted Metcalfe points and had a few dutch 2" points to try as well.
The Metcalfe points worked well with Barley and Oats but blocked up when used for beans.
Establishment overall was good, but better with the dutch point.

I am still not keen on the press wheels on the back of the drill, the headlands and field corners are poor where the drill has turned/reversed.

My own C04.8 project is something to do this winter, and i expect to be all ready to go in the Spring.
