Horsch Leeb AX

Hi all,

I wondered if anyone has been up close and personal with the new Leeb AX? Any views/opinions on it? Having read the literature... and potential price tag, I’m getting more interested in it. I’ll be looking for a sprayer in the coming months and currently have a SP. I know people say going to a trailed is going backwards but anything would be better than the Agribuggy I currently run. The Horsch seems to tick all the boxes; bigger tank capacity, follows tractor, easy to operate, not a hefty price tag compared to the self propelled I’ve seen so far. I’m on Trimble RTK and so would want to be using it for auto section shut off.
I think it is becoming more a reality that a trailed with a second hand tractor is cheaper and safer than going for a sp with 2500+ hours on. Any thoughts? I have a Claas dealer only down the road who have taken Horsch on so spares should be forthcoming if needed in the future? Having searched on here, the only mention of it so far is from Clive? I don’t mean to start another thread debating pros and cons of trailed vs sp just yet ;)

Any reason your not looking at a LT rather than AX (price) ? Been running a 28m 4000L LT since September and it’s a fantastic bit of kit
Ye the price is the main factor. Also whether I’d make full use of the extra tech. What do you think you are better off with on your LT vs what the AX offers? I’m aware not many people will have used them yet, but I’ve not had chance to get to any shows to see one. Hopefully they might have one at cereals?

No experience of the Ax but it looks very good value and I think they will sell like hot cakes ! - ours is a 6GS

Going trailed certainly hasn’t been going backwards here / with the tech on the Horsch the very opposite in fact !

Thanks for replying Clive. Was that choice to change purely financial or was there something on offer with it that wasn’t available on another machine? What tech are you making the most out of vs what you had on farm before? I read a lot about the booms being second to none, but on the AX they’d be slightly more basic?

Change to trailed mostly financial yes - less than half the price for same spec trailed

Also tractor cab nicer place to be, better on road etc

Horsch chosen over other brands mostly for booms and the contour system which is in a class of its own right now but also 25cm nozzle spacing and the multiple nozzle auto switching is also a big step forward for coverage and pattern

I don’t know enough about the AX to comment on it’s spec but I think they have the same boom stability and contour tech

Ax is a lot more basic a machine.
4000 litre tank
PTO driven pump, hydraulic available as an option
18 to 30m booms
Steering on the drawbar rather than rear axle

It is a good little sprayer really
What area are you in?

I’m in Notts. Even with that basic spec it still seems a good machine from the literature. I’m not bothered about it being a plastic tank as I already have one and it’s never been an issue. Just been looking at where filters are situated; might make life fairly easy!

Yeah it is built using the Horsch ethos but designed for the farmer who does not need or perhaps want the level of technology that is in th bigger models. Not to say it is a poor relative by any standard.
Well worth getting a demo of it n

We’ve had a quote a couple of months ago. Pretty basic sprayer but they do not have the auto levelling as on the LT and GS machines. About £52,000 for a 30m as that’s the widest available.

Our land isn’t particularly unlevel and would be on 24m. Guessing would come in mid 40s with smaller boom. Either way, there’s a potential saving there. What made you price one up? Does it have everything you’d want other than the auto levelling?

quite a bit cheaper than a full spec 4LT, 4000L,28m, 14x2m auto shut off, tripple nozzels, auto hight, bigger stainless induction hopper, boom lights, and 2 sets of wheels then :nailbiting:

Still happy with your choice? :) How you getting on with the boom lights? With more night spraying going on with flea beetle etc have you got on well with them?

Only used them a couple of times, but very handy if I get caught out by the daylight when 20miles from home at other farm, means I can carry on and get finished then drive machine home
