Relation running a very successful livery for over 100 horses. His wife is in charge, she is not one to upset. 😉😉
They’re doing VERY well out of it 👍
He is so smart that he sells his straw to the livery and then, after they have mucked it out, has it back to reuse for his beef cattle. As he often says “I had a bit of luck” 🤣🤣🤣

Theres a fella near me doing the exact same thing and he doesn't ride a bicycle neither!

how do you go about setting up direct debit ? must be loads of hoops to jump through. + not sure I would be happy giving a local farmer permission to dip into my bank account whenever he felt like it.
Direct Debit doesn't allow the business to just dip into the client account willy nilly as there are tight rules they have to abide by. If a client requests a payback then it has to be honoured without delay and the business has to cover all the fees, if it happens too often then the business could have their ability to use DD withdrawn.

I know that. That's why I assume there would be lots of hoops to jump through beacuse otherwise an unscrupulous livery provider could clear out a customers bank account and dissappear.

Standing order is a fixed amount isnt it? So ok for monthly livery fee but no good for x number of bales of hay and straw in addition
We do standing order but that includes hay/haylage and straw. It's much easier to include everything in my opinion as from the other yards we supply it causes a lot of arguments as some buy good hay others rubbish hay and the good hay can go "missing" etc. You also need to keep count of how much each owner has had and again it can go missing plus all the extra space required, they can use a bit more if its included in the monthly fee, any excessive use gets pulled up on but only had to mention it once in all the years and it's far less hassle overall.
The only thing we supply for bedding is straw if they want to use other bedding they have to buy their own but I dont reduce the price if they do
